I am the director of human resources at a pretty large company.
I am in charge of overseeing 500 employees. I have to make sure that they are happy in their working environment and that they get along with their coworkers. I have had good situations with employees and weird situations. I had to peer mediate two employees because the one employee thought his coworker was stealing all of his pens. This situation was very weird and I tried not to giggle at some of the things that were said. Last week I had a complaint from a few employees about the air conditioning units in offices. The complaint was that it gets too cold too quick in certain areas of the house and people feel frozen. I checked with the maintenance people to see if there was anything wrong with the HVAC system. They got back to me and said they weren’t sure. Our maintenance people are pretty useless. I contacted the maintenance supervisor and asked if I could hire an HVAC technician to come check the problem and he didn’t oblige. I called a local HVAC provider that does commercial HVAC. They showed up to the office the next day and inspected the system. They told me that the refrigerant was leaking and the coils could have burst any minute. It was a good thing that I called. The HVAC system is bigger than a home HVAC system. Calling a provider that also specializes in commercial HVAC systems is key when solving problems like this one.
