Maintaining Your HVAC System

Maintaining Your HVAC System

I’ve never been the type of person to clean.

I despise cleaning anything in my house.

I don’t mind doing the dishes but if I have to dust or vacuum, forget about it. I have allergies too and you think that it would be an incentive for me to clean more. Well it’s not, I’d rather do other things around my house then clean. I’d rather be outside maintaining my vegetable garden, planting flowers or going on a hike. I do need to change my mindset though when it comes to cleaning my home. The last time an HVAC technician came to my house he was a little annoyed on how dirty my air filter was. I have another appointment with my HVAC provider today and I’m curious if he’s going to make the same reaction. When he got to my home, I saw how disgusted he was again when he changed my air filter. He recommended some maintenance things that I do to maintain the efficiency of my HVAC system. He told me that I should be changing my air filter at least four times a year. I also should make sure that the supply and return vents are open and not blocked by furniture. He also recommended that I inspect my outdoor unit to make sure nothing is blocking the airflow to it. I listened to his advice and planned on doing his suggestions before he visits next time. If I performed all of these tips, my system would run more smoothly and my system could potentially last longer.
