Cleaning Your Indoor Unit

Cleaning Your Indoor Unit

I went to my friend’s house the other day for her birthday.

It was a low key party with some of our closest friends.

We laughed and talked about old memories when we were in high school and college. The food was delicious, she had a local restaurant cater. Suddenly I felt extremely warm. I had a feeling her air conditioner was not running. I suggested nicely that she turn on her air conditioner. She agreed because she felt a little warm too, so she went to her programmable thermostat and lowered the set temperature. She was at her programmable thermostat for a few minutes. She looked a little confused, so I went to her to see if she needed help. I asked her what was wrong and she said that for some reason her air conditioner was not kicking on. We went down to the basement to look at her HVAC system. Everything seemed to be ok. I decided to take matters in my own hands, and told her to go back upstairs and enjoy her birthday. It looked like the indoor unit was not very clean. Since I always prepare and clean my HVAC system, before my technician comes I knew what I was doing. I decided to turn off her system through the break panel before I opened up the system. I took out her air filter and saw that it was very clogged with dirt. Then I opened the blower compartment and vacuumed up the dust. I went back upstairs and told her what the problem was and suggested she make an appointment with her HVAC provider.
